John: Again the industry was changing. Where before at TalonSoft games were sold in big boxes in big stores, the transition to HPS involved downsizing to shrink-wrapped CDs. This worked really well for about 10 years but now things are transitioning to electronic downloads. This just became possible in the last couple of years with high-speed Internet connections. So now I publish my games on the Internet and they are instantly available around the world which is neat.

John: I think the new apps are a lot of fun. I have four which are free downloads for iPad, Android, and Kindle including Modern Air Power, Civil War Battles, Panzer Campaigns, and Modern Campaigns. There's a bit of a learning curve but once you get the hang of it, I think the interface is easy to use. In fact, my 24 year old daughter was home recently for a visit and I showed her how to play Panzer Campaigns on her iPad. She actually spent the three days she was home playing the complete campaign game in the free release and got a Minor Victory. So what I'm recommending is that the mobile/tablet format really appeals to new players and I would have them try a game in that format, mine or someone else's.
Campaign 1776 allows you to recreate most all of the major battles of the American Revolution. The battles of Bunker Hill, Guilford Courthouse, Saratoga, Yorktown, and many others are covered in high detail allowing you to command either American or British forces against both human and computer-controlled opponents. And in the campaign game, you can fight several linked battles in campaigns of the north, center, and south.
As a campaign, Black Ops III decided to go bigger and bolder than any of the entries before. Players can enjoy the campaign with four-player co-op. Because of this, the combat areas throughout the game's narrative were far more open than in past entries. This threequel in the Black Ops storyline takes place in 2065, four decades from where its predecessor left off. The storyline deals with futuristic elements such as robotics and neural interfaces embedded in the operatives.
General Shepherd, who many might recall from the 2009 Modern Warfare 2 entry, steps in to command Task Force 141. But if you knew his character in the 2009 original, then you might know what to expect. While providing thrilling gameplay, the predictability of this campaign's narrative has held it back from achieving true greatness.
As the original Black Ops had once done, there are mind games afoot and not everything is as it seems. The campaign also offers a variety of gameplay options ranging from all-out gunfights to stealthy options including one scenario where the player is even incognito behind enemy lines.
Infinity Ward followed up its mega-hit Call of Duty 4 with 2009's Modern Warfare 2. The campaign upped the ante of its predecessor by introducing one of Call of Duty's most notorious villains, Vladimir Makarov. This Ultranationalist Russian leader was an acolyte of Imran Zakhaev, the man who attempted to plummet the world into nuclear war in the previous game.

The detail and control is really unique. This is a grand strategy game, have no doubt. It also tries to be a history lesson where the campaign follows a structure. This was a bit jarring at first as some things I did were un-done in the next chapter. But it helps someone like me with just a passing interest watch as things unfold.

Its action takes players into the realities of the famous Vietnam War. The game allows you to play 70 scenarios consisting of 30 main battles that took place there in 1965-1971. A number of real military campaigns, among others, were reproduced: Starlite, Cedar Falls, Tet and Hamburger Hill.
